You are here: American University Student Affairs Supporting Students Affected by the Los Angeles Wildfires

January 9, 2025
Dear Students,
I am reaching out to you as a student who may be impacted by the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles/Southern California region. Our thoughts are with everyone in the affected communities, and we sincerely hope that you, your family, friends, and loved ones are safe.
Please remember that we are here to support you during this difficult time. If you are affected in any way by the tragedy, we encourage you to reach out to someone for assistance. If you live in a residence hall, you can contact your Resident Assistant or Community Director at any time, including evenings and weekends. Alternatively, you can visit the residence hall community desk, where a staff member will be available to assist you.
Additionally, the Office of the Dean of Students (dos@american.edu or 202-885-3300) is available to provide support for any concerns that may impact your academic success. The Center for Well-Being Programs and Psychological Services and the Kay Spiritual Life Center are also valuable resources offering emotional and spiritual support.
Thank you for supporting one another during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Raymond Ou
Vice President of Student Affairs
