Faculty & Staff Group Exercise Classes January 13 - May 9

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

All AhealthyU fitness classes are available to faculty and staff at no-cost.

Hosted by AhealthyU and AU RecFit, for Spring 2025 we're offering four complimentary classes* with no extra purchase or gym memberships needed to participate.

  • Please bring your AU ID. It is required for access to class.
  • Classes are exclusively for faculty and staff and all activity levels are welcome. 
  • Preregistration is no longer required for AhealthyU group fitness classes beginning January 16, 2025. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Masks are optional.

*AhealthyU covers the cost of AhealthyU group fitness classes to help you achieve your wellness goals. Any additional classes offered by RecFit will require payment and are also open to students.

All levels are welcomed to any of our classes! Open to all AU faculty and staff.

  • Barre: Full body workout that combines techniques from Pilates, Yoga, and Ballet. Barre is a low-impact class that focuses on high repetitions of small range movements utilizing body weight, resistance bands, the barre and much more!
  • Strength & Conditioning: This class is for anyone who wants to develop muscular strength and endurance. We’ll tackle basic resistance training exercises using strategic principles. This easy-to-follow workout challenges every major muscle group.
  • Total Body Circuit: A full body workout that is designed to strengthen and tone your whole body! This class will challenge you through bursts of body weight movements and cardiovascular training. All levels are welcome and will leave feeling accomplished and empowered to take on the day.

  • Pre-Hab: Core and Stretch: Learn exercises that help prevent injury. Practice movements that strengthen smaller muscle groups and complete mobility work to keep joints moving smoothly for all types of activities. Great for first-time exercisers and those trying to prevent pain. 

  • Yoga Flow: This yoga class links movement and breath creating a sense of flow and release tension. We will explore a combination of yoga styles including Hatha (static poses), Vinyasa (flowing through poses), and Gentle or Restorative yoga promoting increased strength, focus and flexibility. All levels are welcome and will leave feeling centered and renewed. 

More Information

  • Please sign and submit an electronic AhealthyU exercise release form to participate.
  • Check-in for AhealthyU classes in Jacobs and Cassell Fitness Centers begin 15 minutes prior to the start of class at the front desk for either Jacobs or Cassell based on class location.
  • All participants must present their Staff AU ID card at the fitness center front desk for access to classes. Participants in all of AhealthyU's group exercise classes must follow Fitness Center rules and regulations. This includes arriving for classes in proper workout gear and footwear (no sandals or toed shoes).
  • Class participation is on a first come, first served basis.
  • Masks are optional for participants.
  • Any bags brought to the fitness center must be stored in a locker. No bags are allowed on the floor of the gym or group exercise rooms or on top of any equipment or furniture in the fitness center.  
  • Individuals participating in indoor classes will be provided equipment, but those who wish to bring their own yoga mat are welcome to do so.
