Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply early to secure your spot. Be sure to submit your application by one of the following deadlines:

  • January 26, 2025 (Priority consideration for early applicants)
  • March 16, 2025 (Regular consideration deadline)
  • May 18, 2025 (Final deadline – limited spots may be available)

Act now! Early applications have the best chance for admission and availability.

Application Checklist

Please review the following list of application materials for more information on submission guidelines. Each submission requirement is linked directly to the submission form for that part of the application.

  1. Main Application
    1. The application to the Community of Scholars program is designed to collect important information about your academic background, interests, and demographic details. This information helps us ensure a diverse and enriching learning environment while tailoring the program to meet the needs of all participants.
  2. Application Essay
    1. As part of your application to the Community of Scholars program, you will be required to submit a written essay. Please use the prompts below to craft your response. Students should respond to one of the three essay prompts. We recommend writing and editing your essay using your preferred software before submitting it. Once you have finalized your essay, you can copy and paste it into the application form. Please note that you will not be able to edit your essay after submission, so ensure it reflects your best work. We look forward to learning more about you through your writing!
    2. Essay Prompts
      1. Share a personal experience where you encountered a culture different from your own or demonstrated leadership in resolving a conflict. How will participating in the Community of Scholars program help you develop these skills and deepen your understanding of global cultures?
      2. Reflect on a time when you took action to address a problem in your community or school. How do you see yourself using the skills and knowledge gained from the Community of Scholars program to contribute to solving global issues?
      3. Describe a global issue or event that has sparked your interest in international relations. How do you hope the Community of Scholars program will expand your understanding of this issue and other global challenges?
  3. High School Transcripts
    1. Students may submit an unofficial high school transcript as part of their application. However, please note that we may request an official transcript at a later stage if needed.
  4. Letter of Recommendation 
    1. Please share the letter of recommendation link with your teacher or counselor. Your recommender may also choose to upload a letter directly.
  5. TOEFL Scores (Optional)
    1. Students whose primary language is not English or who have not been studying in an English-speaking academic environment may be required to submit TOEFL scores to demonstrate English language proficiency. This ensures that students are prepared to succeed in the rigorous academic environment of the Community of Scholars program.
  6. Application Fee
    1. There is a nonrefundable $300 application fee if accepted to the Community of Scholars program.
